Screaming and excessive noise making are usually signs of boredom. A few tricks to keep in mind when trying to quiet your little monster down is to remember that your Conure is extremely active and requires a lot of stimulation to keep him amused. Place stimulating toys inside and outside of your pet’s cage. Anything that they can use to explore is perfect such as mirrors, ropes, ladders, perches, bells and more. Always keep safety in mind, make sure that you do not put anything in the cage that your pet could become tangled in or hurt by any means.

Biting is a Conure behavior that can be attributed to many things including a change in the environment, to attract attention, fear or when the bird feels frustrated. When your bird decides to bite you will usually receive some kind of warning like feather puffing. When your bird starts this warning you should try to distract him/her with your voice. Try a simple command like No! When you say this put him down and turn your back to him which should make him realize that he will get no attention for bad behavior. Eventually this training should stop your bird from biting.

The most common causes of feather plucking include boredom, habit or can even be caused by an improper diet. The best way to deal with this issue is to make sure that your bird is stimulated and has plenty of exercise and ensure that you are feeding your bird the proper food with the correct nutrients and vitamins needed for optimal health. You can consult your local vet to determine what foods are proper to feed your bird.

Most negative Conure behavior can be fixed with a little time and patience. The key to fixing your pets issues is to understand your pet’s reactions to certain situations.
